Art Store Employment.

Well, lets start out with the usual B.S.

"I LOVE my new job!"

Who has ever said, "Man, I hate my new job"!
I mean really what does that say about the person who said that? You applied for the job and accepted the offer of employment. Deal with it for crying out loud!
I am on the other side of things.
I LoVe my new job!
My new manager is awesome.
The owner is loving the sales numbers we are putting up and the job is close to me in a geographic way. The pay sucks but that is the way it is working at an art supply store.
Now that all the belly aching and patting myself on the back is done, let me begin.

I have been in love with art for about 30 years now and I can say I know a fair amount about the subject. I am in no way stating I am an authority on the matter but I know what I know. If you what to read on I will share my side of truth and you can see if you agree with my view of art.

I hope and plan to share techniques and some of the process I have come up with by watching and learning from a wide range of sources. If it is from a source I will share my source and you can judge for yourself what you like and don't like.

I thought I knew a lot about art before, however this week has really enlightened me to how little I really knew!

My blog will be about my day to day job, the people I meet and the products I find and sell. I will plan to bring you images of the products, and hopefully some useful and interesting facts that may help you out. Either way I think it will be a great way to help me remember some of the cool facts I am learning and perhaps a resource to call upon in the future. I hope you enjoy the trip.
Best.

Okay here is a piece I am working on right now This is the current stage I find myself in on this piece. I call the piece "You can give her the world, but." I love the way the piece works. I have added the photos that I found of a local model here in AZ. Her name is R. E. Mast. She is quite fetching and I am sure you will agree with me on that.

Here is the pervious stages of the work as I decided the soft colors of watercolor pait would work best for this project. However I have already used Copic markers and Pastels by this point as well.

Here is the black and white piece I started with as you can see from the reference photos below I changed a few things here and there, I moved the hands a little and also changed the hight of the low cut blouse she was wearing. She is striking enough with out exposing the amout that is shown in the photos. I am sure my male friends will disagree with my on certain points but I feel the version I created work well enough as is.

Here is Rachel and the pieces I found that this piece is based on. I loved the shot from the very moment I saw it.

Well I hope you enjoyed the play by play so far. I hope to post more this week. I really have to get better with my posts and try to get them out more often! :0)
Best and enjoy.

Hello one and all. Here is a new post with just some random inked pieces I did for the L.M.C. label. I did a male and female quail, a simple mountain with the sun setting, and also a bath tub as I hear that is Marsha's desire. :0) I am working on a few baby quail and some Prickly Pear Cactus today also. Now I am also thinking up a very different idea for the bottle that I can only share with those very close to the project. So you will have to wait to see if that takes shape or not. I Will post the baby quail and some color samples later today or before Easter. I hope you all are enjoying the process.
Let me know what you think. Email me or Marsha, also you can find me on Twitter and Facebook as well.
Best.
Kevin.

Hello every one, I am working on a very special project here today and I am posting the fonts here so that a few family members can see the options I am looking at. I find it is always better to have more then 1 set of eyes on a project at a time. I will post more as the project comes together. For now enjoy the options and let the choosing begin. After all there can be only one....:0) oooopps highlander slip.

Cheese and Quackers!

Hello everyone, Well as promised I said I was going to start posting more content and I have just finished up with Cheese from my "Cheese & Quackers" project I have playing with.
As I am unsure if my wife will be employed here or not in a few days I am unsettled at best when it comes to my art. I thought that a few short ranged projects would be just what I need to get back into the swing of things. Well here is "Cheese & Quackers" Let me know what you think!

Mr Quackers!?

Hello everyone, I would like you to meet "Mr. Quackers"! Your new friendly, quacky, pond duck. I have decided that in addition to all the other projects I fill my time with, I can afford to add on just one more to my work load. I think I will start doing a cute little seasonal piece with two new characters named "Cheese & Quackers!" I think I see it as a fun little way to build portfolio pieces and do fun cards for my family. Easter is too soon but I will try to do some birthday cards and maybe Mother's day. Let me know what you think!
God Bless.
Kev.

A new direction?

Well,
here is a image from my unknown would-be web comic I have been kicking around as of late. I have been working on the idea for about 4 months.
I love the visuals I have come up with for the TumbleWeed Tales Web comic I had done in the past but the story is a bit rough to get ironed out with the time frame I had chosen. Plus the fact I was using all watercolors it was getting a bit costly. I have placed that idea in my back pocket for now with the visuals and story ideas under lock and key for now.
This new approach is far less costly and I hope to print the comic after a group of pages are done. I can't share any details yet but I wanted to know what you think.
I have a C&C posted up on this link
http://kanderson137.deviantart.com/art/W-i-P-2-157793451
and you are welcome to add your feedback.
Here is on of the images of the main characters.
Well, head to the link and let me know what you think.
Enjoy.

Done and between.

Hello all, I have been gone for a bit but I hope the wait was worth it. Here are few images from the book I had been working on. I am unsure of the number of folks even viewing these posts but I fell if I keep at it the folks will come. Here are a few picts from inside and the cover. This image has been signed by the author, J. Welliver.

The project was loads of fun and I can't wait to start the next book. As soon as I get some information on how to buy a copy of your own I will pass it along. We are also talking about starting the next book "That is not what Grandpas are for" very soon.
I hope you enjoy the art and buy a copy for your favorite grandma in your life. :0)
Enjoy and Be blessed.

The book story part 1

Hello all, I know I have been gone for a while as I worked to do some social networking and here I am after it worked! I am starting work on A children's book that will remain unnamed for now. However I will begin to post my work in progress and hopefully you can learn from my mishaps. I will be frank and candid in my posts so I hope you can get something from the comments made. I am working on setting up the characters asked to be in the children's book and I will begin with the first 4 and the process involved with the first 4 and I hope you enjoy the posts. I will also so some pictures of my studio and my work space as well. Thank you for stopping by and thanks for the read.Your far off friend!Kevin AndersonA.K.A. "KEV." or "-&-"

Here are the clean lines for some of the characters in the book.

Inks of 4 of the character I am doing in the book.
Here is the piece I will be posting, this is step 1 in color using Adobe PS
Here is a shot of my little library, check out the Zorro pict on the right shelf done by Eric Merced. Eric is an AwEsOmE artist the you can find all over the web.
Here is a picture of my art desk mid-project, I love the glass table top. It's a great Light table!
My usual mess and T.V. for distractions I did need!
More chaos, I can never understand how I work in it. I can up and at the start of each step it gets to this every time. :0)

Here is the next stage of computer colors in PhotoShop.

I only work on the computer pieces while the watercolor is drying. I hope to start uploading the traditional work soon.
